LIANGCHEN SUI

Liangchen Sui is a visual designer, sound researcher and multimedia artist based in London and Shanghai. She is currently pursuing a practice-based PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London, co-supervised by the Departments of Music and Art. Her interdisciplinary practice spans sound, moving image, graphic design, drawing, installation, performance and multi-sensory media, underpinned by acoustic ecology, semiotics, musicology, audio-visual art and posthumanism. Through field research, participatory processes, and site-specific experimental art, she is developing a non-anthropocentric Ecosound Notation system that elucidates industrialised wetland landscapes against the backdrop of ecological crisis, exploring non-binary entanglements between human and non-human agencies.

Liangchen holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Beihang University and an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art. She founded an artistic research studio in Shanghai and works as an educator. Her creative projects have featured at exhibitions and festivals in cities such as London, New York, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hangzhou, and her work has appeared in The Ecological Citizen.
