Claire Baily is a visual artist using sculpture as a language to explore the complexity of what it means to be human. Using form and material she investigates the intertwining landscapes of mind, body and earth, known and unknown. Her current research is looking at what a sustainable making practice might look like in the context of the climate emergency. Taking a new approach to her material practice she is committed to developing more sustainable art production systems with regenerative resources at their core. Focusing on bio-based materials that are cultivated in the UK or produced as by-products of industrial and agricultural processes she is working on a variety of practical making techniques where bio-based can be a viable alternative to existing sculptural processes where petrochemicals are dominant.
